The Continental Hotel was inaugurated in 1888 and is the oldest hotel in the area of Rijeka. The construction of the hotel was funded from Hinko Bacic, a mayor of Susak, and designed by the first trained architect, also citizen of Susak, Mate Glavan. The hotel was built from 1885 until 1888. When opened, Continental has rapidly gained popularity among residents of Susak because of its constitution, many facilities and excellent position. The hotel was renovated in 2008, and since then was upgraded to a 3-star hotel. The position of the hotel, located in the centre of town, is an ideal location for business travellers who want to combine leisure and business commitments in the city, and is an excellent choice for guests who wish to visit the old town. The restaurant has a beautiful terrace that stretches to the Rjecina river, in the shadow of centuries-old chestnut trees, and offers Mediterranean and continental cuisine. The gastronomic offer is expanded with the Sweetshop Cont, with its sweet and colourful dishes, and the new cafe/bar. The hotel provides 69 rooms, all of which are reported to be clean and comfortable and come fitted with all the amenities needed for a pleasant stay.
