Hotel Monterey Group brings a new hotel to Sendai (the City of Trees) called Hotel Monte Hermana. Meaning sister in Spanish, the name could also mean Princess Mountain since Monterey derives its name from King s Mountain. The Spanish connection is particularly appropriate in Sendai, as the city s founder, the samurai Masamune Date, funded a rare expedition to Spain in the Middle Ages. This relationship between Spain and Sendai is reflected in the design of the hotel.
