The Design & Wine Hotel combines modernity with the built heritage, innovation with boldness, history with modernity and tradition with technology, but always maintaining the facade of the eighteenth century manor. It has 23 themed rooms that blend influences of traditional art with contemporary artistic expressions. All rooms are equipped with air conditioning, LCD TV with cable channels (including Sport TV), Playstation 3, iPad, iPod and iPad speakers, Wi-Fi Internet access (free of charge), minibar, work desk and safe. A very innovative component is the High Tech structure, where there are 5 rooms, with a capacity of rotation over itself, 35 degrees, which allows guests to enjoy a different panoramic from the source to the mouth of the River Minho. In this unit you can find a restaurant that is characterized by a mixture of modern kitchen reinterpretation of old recipes from Alto Minho always served with fine wines, a wine cellar with a separate entrance from the hotel which proposes an extensive list of national wine tasting and traditional snacks, and the White Box Gallery, a multifunctional space for exhibitions, conferences, presentations, etc. The hotel also offers a reading room and a living room with sofas, pool table, board games (chess, checkers, cards, etc.), computer with Internet access and TV.
Design & Wine Hotel is located directly in the center of the historic port city Caminha, in the northwest region of Portugal, on the left bank of Minho River, overlooking the Galizian Province of Spain. The Minho region of Portugal is a very popular destination among both Portuguese and Spanish nationals. Low tide sandbars, a pastoral and green rural landscape, and pine forests on the slopes of the granitic mountains mark the highly scenic area, with the wide river creek. The hotel is surrounded by Caminha’s most historic attractions, which are the large Parish Church (from 1488), the main square (Renaissance fountain of 1551), several Gothic and Renaissance houses in the old core and main square, and remains of medieval and 17th century fortifications.
