The hotel has been listed as a national monument since June 1931 and is located on a rocky outcrop on the highest hill in Illueca. Its construction during the 13th century was ordered by Juan MartΓnez de Luna whose son, Pedro Luna, is known to history as Benedict XIII, Pope Luna. This 3-storey hotel was renovated in 2006 and comprises a total of 26 rooms of which 2 are junior suites, 2 are suites and 2 rooms have been adapted to cater to disabled guests.
