It a comfortable, friendly space, with whitewashed arches adorned with vegetation, an invitation to peace and quiet in the sitting of a beautiful town declared a Historical and ArtisticMonument. 1208AB. They are decorated in rustic style. Most of them are located around the inner square. spacious common rooms on the inside with white walls and bedrooms which recall the religious function as convent. The cuisine in Extremadura is varied, with many typical dishes such as 'la caldereta de cordero' (a lamb dish),'el pestorejo', 'la sopa de arroz cacerena' (a Rice soup), 'el bacalao monacal' (a cod dish), 'el pincho mudejar' (skewered meat), and 'el pollo a lo padre' (a chicken dish). For dessert there is 'el nuegado de Guadalupe' and when the time of year is right, 'el pudding de castanas' (chestnut pudding). The lobby corespond with the global atmosphere of the parador itself, reminds a 15th century castled keeping their decoration as elegant classical and functional.

Location

The hotel is housed in an old hospital that was intended for pilgrims in the 15th century. The parador takes its name of' Zurbaran' from the fact that the adjacent Guadalupe monastery preserves a collection of pictures by this famous artist. The impressive fortress-monastery of Guadalupe is a centre of pilgrimage in the region of Extremadura.
