Amanjiwo is located in Central Java, the cultural heartland of Java and modern Indonesia. The rich tradition and ancient culture are revealed as guests have the opportunity to experience the breathtaking nature beauty of rural Java, temples and arts that date back to the 8th and 9th centuries. Amanjiwo s suites and walkways of paras stone are rewarded with breathtaking and magical views of one of the world s most cultural and ancient historic sites. (JH 14/02/08) All are suites, which encircle the main building and offer both interior and exterior living areas. Entry to each suite is by sliding glass door that provides a light filled living and sleeping area. The king size bed is positioned in the centre of the suite beneath the high ceiling and doomed rooftop. Facilities include a writing desk, occasional table and chairs, chaise lounge, safety deposit box, and cabinet containing music system and Private Bar. The bathroom has twin vanities, a dressing area, shower, and leads to a small courtyard revealing an outdoor sunken bath. The main public building is circular in design and rises to a domed centrepiece. The arrival Porte Cochere is flanked by the Lobby, Library, Shop and Gallery and leads to the Bar that overlooks the Dining Room. Stepping down to the lower level reveals panoramic views of the sweeping plains to Borobudur and onto Mount Sumbing. The Resort rests amongst verdant terraced rice fields and coconut, clove and citrus groves with mountain streams bordering the property on two sides. The architecture of Amanjiwo draws from the history, tradition and culture of Central Java, widely recognised as the birthplace of modern day culture found throughout Indonesia. The Dining Room looks out onto the crescent-shaped Terrace, with its banquette seating, brass tables, teak-wood chairs and Yogya batik cushions. The view from the Terrace is particularly arresting at dawn and twilight, or after the cleansing rain, when the world of Java clears, revealing more than the rice fields of the Kedu Plain. Borobodur is directly ahead.
