The hotel has been listed as a national monument since June 1931 and is located on a rocky outcrop on the highest hill in Illueca. Its construction during the 13th century was ordered by Juan MartΓ­nez de Luna whose son, Pedro Luna, is known to history as Benedict XIII, Pope Luna. This 3-storey hotel was renovated in 2006 and comprises a total of 26 rooms of which 2 are junior suites, 2 are suites and 2 rooms have been adapted to cater to disabled guests.
