This motel-style lodge is ideally located in the southwest area of the Grand Canyon Village, just a short walk from the canyon. Nestled within several acres of Ponderosa pine forest it welcomes all outdoor types. The original establishment dates back to the 1927 and was constructed by Fred Harvey Company and the Santa Fe Railroad, when travelling by automobile to the parks was quickly becoming fashionable. The only architectural component remaining from historic lodge buildings are the original stone pillar, everything else has been rebuild. The rooms feature either 2 large queen-size beds or a single king-size one and guests can request a roll-away beds if needed. For dining there is a food court from where one can grab a sandwich or other types of ready-made food and a sports bar with a wide screen TV, where to catch a game and chill with a beer. The Lodge is situated right in the Grand Canyon National Park. With modern rooms and many services within a few steps, this is a convenient choice for families. This bungalow complex is located within the Grand Canyon National Park. It is about 1 kilometre from the South Rim visitors centre and is surrounded by pine forests. It is located next door to the Grand Canyon Marketplace, which contains a shop and post office. The lodge is about a two-hour drive from Flagstaff Arizona and about 3.5 hours from Phoenix. There is a shuttle bus just 5 minutes walk from the hotel.||The hotel is very rustic and blends into its natural surrounds of tall pine forests. This cosy and historic lodge is the largest in the park and dates back to the 1920s. The lodge offers 160 rooms in total, and guests are welcomed in a lobby with 24-hour reception and check-out services. There is also a newspaper stand, cafe, bar, pub and restaurant. Guests arriving by car may leave their vehicle in the hotels car park.||The guest rooms are traditional and reminiscent of a typical hunting lodge. They have vaulted ceilings with ceiling fans but are not air-conditioned. They have either two queen beds or one king-size bed, a hairdryer and a TV. Several bungalows make up the lodge, with 4 to 16 rooms per bungalow. The setting is very rustic and woody. An en suite bathroom with shower and bathtub, a direct dial telephone, radio and individually regulated heating also feature in all bungalows as standard.||The lodge does not offer any sporting or entertainment options.||Three meals per day are served in the restaurant and snacks are available in the shop next door. A continental breakfast buffet is served each morning and set menu and a la carte options are available for lunch and dinner.||Upon entering to the National Park, follow the signs marked ?Village. The lodge is located in the centre of the Grand Canyon Village and is easy to locate.
