The Clifton South Beach Hotel is an intimate two story boutique hotel with 35 rooms located in the heart of iconic South Beach area. Generating an eco conscious atmosphere in keeping with its Art Deco style was important in the design of the Clifton South Beach Hotel. While the facade of the the Clifton retains its historic old school architecture, the interior features modern spaces and amenities which are eco friendly. Rooms use an occupancy sensing energy management system as well as a custom designed air conditioning system which is used to accommodate the hotel need for hot water. Energy use is also minimized via dimmable LED lighting, reflective roofing, and energy efficient windows. Roof mounted photovoltaic cells are providing 15 kilowatts of energy to the property and a small scale roof-mounted wind turbine is in testing. The Clifton hopes to continue to reduce its energy usage and potentially feed excess energy back into the local power grid.
