This is a good example of a Scottish country house castle. The castle is only 5 minutes from the centre of this picturesque Pictish town. The Town of Tain was formed in 1066 and became the Pictish capital of the Highlands. Mansfield and its sister Hotel Morangie were built around the 1880s by a tea plantation family; it is set in 3 acres of gardens but is also close to all amenities. Rooms are divided by mainly superior rooms in the Castle section and standard rooms are situated in the garden wing, which is connected to the castle by an inside walkway. The popular tower suite with its ghost, Mrs. Fowler and fantastic views around the area is the centrepiece of the castle. Standard rooms in the quiet garden wing are large, practical and all have power showers, trouser presses etc. This castle offers a full bar and restaurant menu with an excellent wine list.
