The confluence of the North and South Platte rivers creates the north/south east/west crossroads of America s ecosystems, ideal for bird watchers in spring to observe the sandhill crane migration, while for others there is hunting wild waterfowl or boating. It is also the birthplace of Col. Wm. F. Cody, and his Wild West Show, immortalised in the Buffalo Bill Ranch State Historical Park, a 15 minute drive from the hotel, and well worth a visit in summer.
