This delightful historical hotel is the perfect place to stay for those who want not only to visit Krakow, but to truly experience it, by staying in the city's heart in one of the city's oldest and grandest hotels. Highly recommended. The rooms are in exceptional condition. They are decorated in classical style in keeping with the rest of this historic property, but enjoy up to date facilities as the building was only restored to its present state quite recently. Most of the rooms are medium sized, though some are large. Those on the top floors can be a little smaller, but the compensation for this is their cosy sloping ceilings, beautiful views out over the surrounding rooftops of old Krakow and the fact that they are quieter. The restaurant is located just off the lobby under a huge glass roof in what was once the building's back yard. It is a charming and stylish bistro, serving a fine buffet breakfast and snacks, drinks and meals all day. The lobby is small, but elegant with a very high ceiling and gleaming polished wood reception desk. There is plentiful seating next door in the restaurant.
The Pod Wawelem hotel is located in Krakows Old Town, at the foot of the Wawel Hill, next to the Royal Castle, only a few steps from the Vistula River bank and a quick walk away from the Main Market Square and the Cloth Hall. This hotel comes highly recommended, particularly for those who want to be close to the centre of town, but away from the inevitable noise associated with an absolutely centre location. Then there is the lovely view.... RY0609 The rooms are large and in very good condition. They are smartly decorated in neutral colours and the furniture and fitting are of good quality. Most, though not quite all, rooms enjoy lovely views over the river to the castle surely putting this hotel in the top ten hotels with the best views in Poland. They are also admirably quiet as the hotel is away from any large roads. The lobby is small. It is on the ground floor at the foot of the stairs up to the far more spacious restaurant on the first floor. This is a modern hotel. The restaurant is on the first floor and has full length windows making the most of the hotel s position and affording diners views of Wawel.
